Google’s history is unknown to many people around the world who uses it all day. Almost everyone use Google for searching some stuffs or other, but most of them do not know its origin. We often wonder how this search engine became so popular and how it’s able to satisfy billions of users around the world.

history-of-googleThis amazing search engine was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. They were Ph.D. students in the Stanford University, California and they were researching on a search engine. They found a search engine and named it as BackRub in 1996. It was operated on the Stanford servers for more than a year and the engine consumed too much bandwidth to suit the university requests.

How Google got its name?

new-google-logoOnce we know about Google history, we can understand how this small research project became the famous Google search engine. Many of us often wonder what the meaning of Google is and how this name came into existence. The search engine was first named BackRub and later was changed to “Googol”, a mathematical term which represents numeral 1 followed by 100 zeroes. This term was used by the two students to portray their mission which was to bundle infinite amount of information and provide it under one single package. The term “Googol” was a misspelling of the word “Google”, the revolutionary search engine that changed the lives of millions of people.

The Process of Searching:

google-ranking-systemLarry and Sergey wanted to do something different and help people get better results when they use Google. So, they came up with the ranking system which made a benchmark in Google history. This ranking system ranked various sites based on its popularity and accordingly displayed better results.

This soon became popular with websites such as IBM.com and other sites. Counting websites is not hard, but to count links within links seemed to be a difficult task. The ranking system overcame such problems and displayed accurate results which created a benchmark in search engines. The project seemed to be difficult at first, but later the qualitative/quantitative data and advanced search options made Google popular than its competitors.

The Creation of Google, Inc.

google_green_office_buildingGoogle’s history explains how two students made their small dream into a big reality. They would not have done it without their investor, Andy Bechtolsheim, the founder of Sun Micro-systems. He gave a cheque for $100,000 to Google Inc., which officially did not exist at that time. Later, Larry and Sergey founded their corporation on September 7th, 1998 by receiving help from various investors. This was the stepping stone from which Google gained success. By the mid-1999, Google was answering nearly three million queries each day and kept growing in a fast pace.

Google at Present

google-history-presentGoogle, inc. is now an American public corporation that earns revenue from online mapping, advertising, and video sharing, social networking, etc. When we turn back Google history, we can find two bright souls trying to make a difference in life. Their dream has revolutionized and organized our world which will be nothing without search engines. Google is famous for its applications like Google Adsense, Gmail, Orkut, etc. Google is a wonderful search engine that still keeps growing providing fresh content all time. They implement new metrics to keep content relevant for the public who are searching for the products, including google plus.

With the help of Google, you can literally do anything in this world.

All doable opportunities but first you have to commit yourself to doing ‘something’ and then you have to ‘do it’. Not always an easy thing for most people.

If you have a natural entrepreneurial spirit, a skill, you’re a self-starter and you have the will to be successful, you’ll be on your way 😉

Interesting history of the name which I had not heard before. All it takes is a good idea and taking action. Perseverance plays a part too. Many would be marketers never take any action and others do not pursue their dreams long enough to get the success they desire.
