iPhone 6 vs iPhone 6 Plus Battery Life and Performance

September 15, 2014 by Siddharth 2 Comments

Battery life is very important for iPhone users and infact there were lots of surveys we’ve seen showing that iPhone fans wanted a stronger battery in the iPhone 6 even more than they wanted a bigger display. iPhone 6 is designed to be incredibly efficient. So you can spend your day taking advantage of all its new features and apps while getting better battery life. The New iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus both offer improved battery life comparing to iPhone 5S. Due to the larger size of iPhone 6 Plus, it is able to accommodate a larger battery which in turn provide more battery power than iPhone 6, however, the capacities of both the batteries remain unknown. 3G talk time for the iPhone 6 Plus is at huge 24 hours, compared to just 14 hours in the iPhone 6, for example, while HD video playback is at 14 hours for the iPhone 6 Plus and only 11 hours for the iPhone 6.

So its very clear that the battery life is directly proportional to the size of the device. Bigger the device, better the battery life. However, the iPhone 6’s battery life really won’t offer much of a extra life from the iPhone 5s. According to Apple’s metrics, the iPhone 6 will offer the same amount of standby time as the 5s while delivering one extra hour of Internet use over Wi-Fi and one extra hour of video playback.

This is pretty OK, but it’s almost nothing compared to the huge leap forward in battery power in iPhone 6 Plus, which offers six extra days of standby time, two more hours of Internet use over Wi-Fi and four extra hours of HD video playback time.

So what this means to you is that, if you’re looking fro extra battery power with the new iPhone Models, its better to shed out little more money and go with iPhone 6 Plus than going for iPhone 6. This is one important reason why the bigger version is receiving more pre-orders than that of the smaller one.

In terms of design and ergonomics, I like the iphone 6 better, the bigger is not better, not for me indeed.
