Ten reasons why you should wait for the Nokia N8

January 3, 2024 by krishna06 6 Comments

By now, everyone of you must be knowing about Nokia’s new device, the N8. It’s been a while since N8 was the trending topic on online boards and the device’s launch date is getting closer, day by day.

If you’re considering buying a (smart)phone for yourself now and don’t mind postponing it by a couple of months, you must check the N8 out, thoroughly.

Here are ten quick points why you SHOULD wait for the N8:

USB OTG :

Take your thumb drive out, plug it on the N8 and transfer files. Woot! I can transfer movies, music, photos and other data to and from my Nokia N8.  Also supports USB powered portable hard disks!

The AMOLED, MULTITOUCH :

A 3.5 incher, Capacitive display. That’s brilliant! There’s multi-touch and it’s got a resolution of 360*640. Multi-touch on a Nokia, Yeah. Everyone’s just been waiting for this.

SHOOT @ 12MP :

If not for the EXIF tag, nobody would be able to guess this was from a phone. Come on! The noise seems to be very less and the pictures look stunning! Check some more of ’em here

HD Video Capture :

Now that I’ve shown you how awesomely the N8 can snap, it’s time you check out the HD Video shooting capabilities of the N8. With it’s 12MP camera, the N8 can shoot 720p. What more do we need for holidays?

HDMI :

This teams up with the 720p video capturing lens pretty well. With huge HDTVs everywhere these days, all it takes is an HDMI cable to enjoy the video you’d shot that weekend on the big screen. The HDMI output can also help you play your videos from your USB drive on your TV, if you don’t have a media box.

DOLBY :

Nokia N8 is the first phone to feature  Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 Surround sound. What’s more to say? Lay back and enjoy your HD movies on the 3.5 Gorgeous AMOLED with Dolby.

CAPACITIVE TOUCH :

If you’re having a touchscreen phone now, mostly it’s a Resistive display. Capacitive displays are the new-gen and are beneficial in a lot of ways, right from better visibility under sunlight and you don’t need to press them, just a ‘touch’ will do.  Here’s a detailed comparison between the two types of displays by Zomgitscj – [Link]

SYMBIAN^3 :

The next big thing from Nokia. With fully integrated Social networking, a refreshed UI and three homescreens with widgets, Nokia’s Symbian^3 is expected to take on Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android. Nokia N8 will be the first Symbian^3 phone from its stable and the screenshots seem pretty neat.

BUHBYE PLASTIC :

The Nokia N8 is made with Aluminium. Screw up Plastic. The build quality’s going to be just awesome! Wait, have you tried a Nokia made with Aluminium? Not yet. It doesn’t weigh a ton though, 135Grams by weight, the same as the iPhone 3GS.

VFM $$$ :

The phone is priced at €370 which gets approximated to 20,000 INR. This is pretty cheap pricing compared to other Nokia phones and for the features the N8 has packed itself with. For this money, you are nowhere getting a phone with better features and a camera, obviously.
