Using Linked In for SEO ?

April 17, 2014 by Siddharth 14 Comments

With the domination of social networking platforms like Facebook and Twitter, LinkedIn (linkedin.com) continues to be the popular social medium for professionals. With over 75 million members in 200 countries and all Fortune 500 companies as LinkedIn members, it is easy to see why LinkedIn can be a valuable tool for Search Engine Optimization.

You may probably already have your own LinkedIn profile but it would be best to create one specific to your business or company. How can you maximize online presence through LinkedIn? The following steps can help:

Utilize Anchor Links.

If you are able to put anchor text to link your LinkedIn account to your website, it increases your chances to have more backlinks and can help increase your SEO.

Personalize Your URL

This may be something that is often overlooked by individuals and organizations alike. Since LinkedIn allows you to modify your profile’s URL instead of just using the default one, make sure that you input keywords that is relevant to your business to help you rank higher on search engines.

Network, Network, Network

As with all social networking platforms, the number of connections you have in your account is vital. Make yourself known by adding more links to your page and gain visibility to other companies and LinkedIn users.

Have a Complete Profile

What’s great about LinkedIn is that they show you how complete your profile is. Make sure you include all relevant information about your business and attempt to achieve a 100% profile completeness. It then allows you to view your network and LinkedIn users can choose to “follow” you and receive updates and messages from your site.

These are just some of the things that you can do with your LinkedIn profile to help improve your website’s SEO. If you are able to follow these quick and simple tips, there are better chances in gaining more visibility and increasing web traffic.
