Using Website Grader to Improve SEO

January 3, 2024 by Siddharth 19 Comments

This is a guest post written by Eugene Aronsky. Eugene is an SEO specialist with NetLZ, an SEO services company in New Jersey.  Currently Eugene is the lead author of the Top SEO blog.

Give me a name of a successful company and I can give you the name of their website. Nowadays, it’s difficult to imagine a booming business without having some form of virtual presence online. In fact, there are businesses that thrive on the internet alone (Amazon would be one very good example). A website now becomes more of a “need to have” versus a “nice to have”. How effective is your website? Similar to school, if your website had a grade, what would your grade be ?

Website Grader is a free online tool that can actually provide you these results plus some interesting concepts about your site. You might have missed it when I said that this tool is free. No bills. No charge !

How does it work?

All you have to do is enter your website URL, wait for a while and see the results. It even has neat orange graphics to entertain you while you wait. Website Grader will show you various areas of your site in their analysis. Your search engine optimization results, where you stand in your social networking and bookmarking efforts and several others.

This tool will also provide you information around your Google Page rank, blog rank, number of inbound links and number of indexed pages. As if this is not enough, the Website Grader will even allow you to look at the results of the competing websites. This can definitely give you an advantage over your competitors.

Taking a peek into their grader reports can really work for you!  For example, the website www.howtoliveyounger.com, a website related to Executive physicals in NJ got a grade of 87%  the reason for this grade being the number of backlinks to the site, while the website www.boldelectric.net, a site specializing in indoor and outdoor lighting in New Jersey got a grade of 40%, this grade was based upon the age of the site, the fact that the site has no page rank yet and the overall # of other sites linking to it.

Why do I need it ?

It’s quick. It’s free and it’s very convenient. Rather than paying hundreds of dollars to have experts look into your site, Website Grader is an alternative option that’s simple and pain-free. In fact, you can even adjust and tweak content into your site, and then grade yourself again. This 2010 Best Online Software winner for Web Designers will only bring nothing but more insight to your business, so feel free to try it now !

Yes, yes. This thing is solid. And very helpful. However, I feel like people need to know that on-site SEO is only 30% of the equation. I feel like the report is more heavily weighted toward on-site SEO while 70% of what you need has nothing to do with on-site and is about links, PR and buzz…. But that’s just my opinion.
